A young woman from near Hitchin is proving herself in a man's world...
Young people in Hertfordshire are being encouraged to consider apprenticeships as a way to get a more secure future.
It's national apprenticeship week - and we've spoken to 21 year old Jade Brasier, who's taken up the challenge of following in her Dad's footsteps.
Jade is one of 200 apprentices at North Hertfordshire College, she's learning on the job in her Dad's firm while studying for a Brickwork NVQ.
"We mostly do private jobs - house extensions, garden walls, houses. It is horrible when it's cold but when the summer comes it's much better! You have to be fit, because it's hard work, and be prepared to put in the work and pull together as a team."
She originally signed up to a make up and media course, but found there weren't enough job opportunitites. Instead she says the support she gets from the apprenticeship has helped her get on in a field that's much more for her.
Listen to her interview with Jo (above).
