Jo Fahy
Birthplace? Sunny Dunstable.
School Nickname? Jungle Jo was a good one – I won the ‘Most like an Animal’ award in the end of school yearbook on account of my radically realistic animal impressions.
Favourite film? Edward Scissorhands – so tragic, yet so silly. Napoleon Dynamite is brilliant; I’d love a ham-eating Llama called Tina…
Favourite TV show? The Mighty Boosh and Nathan Barley on my cool days; old Sherlock Holmes and Morse episodes on the slightly more cool days.
Favourite band? CSS, Bloc Party, Beck, Paul Weller, Gang of Four and the YeahyeahYeahs if you’re going to make me choose…
What is your favourite town in Hertfordshire? St Albans and Hertford have a lovely oldey-worlde feel to them and loads of great pubs.
If you were not a presenter, what job would you want to have? I’d quite like to be an obscure artist making crazy sculptures out of bits of rubbish and selling it for big bucks.
What is the most you've ever spent on a pair of shoes? I’m not a huge shoe-bee, but maybe about £90 on some nice-at-the-time leather knee-high boots…I don’t like them anymore.
What is your favourite bar or restaurant in Hertfordshire? I love the Waffle House in St Albans!! Putting every type of food on a waffle was some kind of amazing idea…
Who's the most famous person you've ever met? I had a cup of green tea with Beverley Knight in a recording studio once and walked past Kele from Bloc Party at Glastonbury… oh and Iain Duncan Smith and Boris Johnson (not at Glastonbury). Boris was exactly as you’d imagine and IDS was a major let down, a bit on the quiet side.
What are your favourite songs on your Ipod?
Hole – Celebrity Skin, ACDC – Back in Black, New Young Pony Club – The Bomb. I need big tunes to help me survive painful situations like the Tube and the gym.
The gadget I use the most is? My GHD’s on a daily basis (they’re hair straighteners by the way if you’re reading this and have never suffered the wavy hair curse).
Eastenders or Coronation Street? I secretly watch a bit of both them but I’m not really into either. Ahem.
I love Hertbeat FM because...? I get to play loads of tracks that are big at the moment and mega tunes I haven’t heard for ages. Plus I get to hear music from local bands and say I heard them first…!
