Who Is Carl?
Last year
Carl Pendlebury won The Hertbeat Apprentice! It was 'Sir Steve' Folland's search for an apprentice and ran throughout June. He saw off many other talented radio rookies to become the new voice and face (but not tea maker, his teas was rubbish) of Hertbeat FM! Check him out Monday to Thursday 8-10pm on The Evening Bit!
School Nickname? During my time at the student station at Reading University I managed to earn the nickname "Dad". Maybe it was my responsible appearance or the fact I was running the station. Whatever it was it made me feel old.
Favourite Film? I'll go with Spiderman 2, based on the fact that at the time it came out I thought it was so good I went and saw it twice!!
Favourite TV Show? I will fight people for control of the remote when Top Gear or House are on. Other than that Scrubs has become a staple part of my TV diet, mainly because I ended up watching it a lot when I should have been working on my degree.
Favourite Band? I change my artists of preference more often than some people change their underwear. However, consistently the band I'll always make time for and get excited about when the release something is Nickelback. And yes, I did like them before they released Rockstar.
What is Your Favourite Town in Hertfordshire? I saw plenty on my tour of Hertbeat country for the Hertbeat Apprentice. Yet, I'm going to go with Stevenage, after all, it is my hometown.
If you were not a presenter, what job would you want to have? Professional lottery winner. What do you mean it's not a real job?
What is the most you've spent on a pair of shows? £69 on a pair of custom trainers. My mum gives me a lot of stick for this as I had my name stitched in them. Apparently I should have outgrown this.
What is your favourite bar or restaurant in Hertfordshire? The Dragon King in Letchworth. It has my two favourite things. Chinese food and "All you can eat!"
Who is the most famous person you've ever met? Everyone's idea of who is famous varies, but for me the most famous person I've met is Tony Iommi who was guitarist for Black Sabbath and perhaps is responsible for the birth of heavy metal. And of course, Steve Folland, he's pretty famous.
What are your favourite songs on your iPod? Nickelback dominates my top 25, particularly from their new record Dark Horse. I think there are some Green Day tracks off their new album, 21st Century Breakdown. I do listen to non-rock music though... honest.
The Gadget I use the Most? My phone. Calls, texts, music and now that I can update Facebook off it! If I lost my phone it would be like loosing a limb. Only more devastating.
I love Hertbeat FM because... Hmm, where do I start?
